Ontario/Alberta Weekly Market Update
Week Ending June 11, 2010
For the week ending June 11, NYMEX prompt month contracts decreased 4.3 cents to settle at $4.65/MMBtu. The balance of 2010 and Calendar 2011 decreased 1.2 and 4.5 cents, to settle around $4.92/MMBtu and $5.49/MMBtu respectively. The storage report for Thursday, June 10 showed an injection of 99 bcf, compared to analyst expectations of 93 bcf.
Both Ontario and Alberta power markets were relatively stable over the course of the week. The Canadian dollar, which has been following the price of oil, strengthened 1.1 cents to settle at 0.969 USD/CA.
